Handcrafted by Indigenous African Healers
Indigenous accountability
Guided by Indigenous initiation systems.
Our collective of healers is governed by an authentic Indigenous initiation system—the Indigenous equivalent of accreditation. We answer to elders, high priests and royalty. The highest authority we answer to is nature itself.
Every ANH healer has undergone initiation through the M’TAM School of Philosophy and Spirituality, and each has taken an oath to abide by a stringent code of ethics outlined by nature. There are 77 codes, requiring a high level of discipline and rigor from every healer and priest.
How we serve
Three principles at the center of our work.
01We are preservers of life, first and foremost.
The preservation and protection of life is the foundation of our work. Our conduct, healing practices, recommendations and relationships with those we serve are guided by a responsibility to support life, vitality and well-being. We approach healing with reverence for the life within each person and for the interconnected life of the community and natural world.
02We acknowledge and work from the principle of Heru/Set—balance.
We understand health through the natural relationship between forces of preservation and destruction, known within our tradition as Heru and Set. Both forces have a purpose, but health requires that they exist in proper balance. Our work is to help each person recognize imbalance within the body and life, restore greater harmony and cultivate the discipline necessary to maintain it.
03We submit to the governance of nature.
Nature is our highest authority and the foundation of our healing system. It informs the timing of our ceremonies, the availability and preparation of our herbal remedies and the rhythms by which we live and practice. Rather than attempting to work against natural law, we seek to understand it, live in accordance with it and guide those we serve toward a closer relationship with nature.
